doing my part

The past sixteen days without Twitter have been very productive.  I have sewn more items of crafty goodness during this time than in the proceeding sixteen days prior to the “mini death”.

I have completed several travel pillow covers as well as drawing a design and taking it from just a bunch of lines on fabric to a finished bag.  Very beautiful, if I do say so myself.

I have been asked by Matt Bartlett to write a post for the official GreenPress blog, which I will work on this week and weekend.  My boyfriend and daughter will be away most of the weekend and I will have some time to myself to think and write.  My boyfriend is going to help out his step-dad building something on their property in northeast Texas.  My daughter is going to visit her Oma and Opa.  I’m going to a lingerie shower for my boyfriend’s sister on Saturday but that won’t interfere in the writing.  ;)   Might even help a bit.

Today is a state holiday in Texas.  Today is Lyndon Baines Johnson’s birthday.  Remember LBJ …

more than 7 days

Twitter has not re-activated my account.  Nor have I received any further correspondence from the company since the initial email notifying me of suspension, which I believe to be without cause.

i have died and gone to hell

adeathto twitter support: please tell me how you arrived at the idea that i possessed more than one twitter account because i don’t have another twitter account.

also posted at http://jenifr.tumblr.com/post/159918872/i-just-checked-my-email-and-found-the-above-but because people need to see this.  right?  i freely admit to having more blogs than most as well as a multitude of domain names but i only have one twitter account.

prep work

I’m having another yard sale this weekend.  Both Friday and Saturday.  No, I’m not moving but I have bunches and bunches of stuff that need new homes.  In the past, I’ve been something of a packrat and well, I am attempting to reduce my stash of stuff.

foiled

It seems that I just might go against my last post and shop at a big box store on Texas’ Tax-Free Weekend because they have added school supplies to the list of items that will not inflict a sales tax.

Maybe if I go extra early in the day, I won’t endure the crowds??? A girl can hope.

do not go shopping the weekend of august 21st in texas

taxholiday2009I don’t recall when this began but Texas is at again.  The weekend  before the majority of Texas schools start back up for the 2009 – 2010 school year, the malls and various other stores that carry the necessary items are going to be packed to the gills in an effort to avoid paying sales tax.

Most places will also be offering sale prices I’m sure.  Furniture stores like to get in on the fun as well and usually offer a sale equal to the tax to be paid.  For instance, if the sales tax is 8.25% then the sale price is 8.25% off of normal price.

As a mom to a teen, I don’t want to go to the mall that weekend.  For me, the money saved is not worth the craziness of being in a mall with that many other people.

We’re planning on shopping for clothes on Tuesday of next week.  The trip includes JCPenney and Kohl’s though my daughter would like to include Forever 21 and …

a quick money saving tip

I’m writing this without a title until I can decide what I believe the title should be…

Green beans are on the menu for supper tonight.  Along with hamburger meat from the local meat market, which is an excellent spot to save some green instead of buying from the grocery store.  A person can save a dollar or two shopping at the local meat market rather than shopping at discount grocery store.  Even though this involves an extra stop, the meat market is within walking distance of our house and between the house and any of the shops, so this works for us.

OK, must stop and trade off the computer with my daughter.

craziness

For some odd reason I am not able to add a link to my blogroll at this time, so I will add it here [http://www.idealbite.com/] and hope that I remember to add it to the blogroll in the not too distant future.

In just a bit, I need to run a few errands and then I can be found parked in front of my sewing machine creating crafty goodness and getting lost in the feeling of the foot pedal under my toes.

go shopping this weekend

I have an etsy shop http://newusesforoldclothes.etsy.com as well as a blog attached to it http://www.newusesforoldclothes.org and the reason I’m telling you this?  Because I am giving a free gift with purchase of $25 or more.  This weekend only.  I am going out of town this afternoon and will return on Sunday.  All shipments will go out on Monday morning.

And for good measure, I’ll add my flower pen shop http://gyniphr.etsy.com to the mix.  So, if you purchase $25 or more (not including shipping) from either of my shops between now and Sunday AND pay for the item with PayPal before Monday 730 a.m. Central Time, then I will ship your purchases on Monday before 4 p.m. Central Time along with a free gift.

response plus

Unfortunately GreenPress doesn’t allow for mobile-posting per Matt, founder of the company.  I know this because Matt emailed me recently stating this very information.

Hey Jennifer,

At this time we do not have a mobile way to update posts. But we are working on it! :)

I just added you as one of our Founding Bloggers! You can view yourself here now: http://greenpress.com/founders/

I’ll keep you informed on the progress of our mobile version. If there is anything I can help you with let me know! :)

Best regards,

~Matt~

GreenPress is much like WordPress… I believe it is using the same code and behind the scenes framework but GreenPress is different.  The philosophy seems to be different.

Now, please do not take this post as being catty or anything other than a response and sharing news.
